Seeking a Competent/Compassionate GI doctor

Hi all,

Can you recommend a competent/compassionate GI doctor (and possibly a proctologist). My daughter was recently diagnosed with ulcers and Crohn's. She was discharged last night from a two week hospital stay. I'm not confident that our specialist is accustomed to dealing with the issues surrounding this disease. I would like guidance on finding a doctor who specializes specifically in managing Crohn's or treating digestive diseases. I'm trying to get a second opinion to just really be sure that she does in fact have Crohn's and HOW TO MAKE THE BELLY PAIN GO AWAY! Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The best recommendation I could give is to contact your local chapter of the CCFA (Crohns Colitis Foundation of America)
here's their web-site: CCFA.org
You can enter city, state and probably call the local chapter and explain your dilemma, that's what they are there for.
They can help you in finding the perfect GI specialist. Plus you would get a great oppurtuniy to "network" with like people( ages, diagnosis, etc)
Hope that helps you out.
Good Luck :)
