Severe Digestive Track Problem

by trinity007, Oct 18, 2009 02:22PM
I have severe pain on the lower right side of my abdomen. The pain worsens when I eat any bread products and or milk products.  I have been to the OB-GYn,  pelvic US last tuesday. Still no news.  So I made an appt to see a Gastroenterologist on the 26th.  I have removed all gluten from my diet for 2 weeks now and I have just removed milk this week.  The pain continues and I get feverish at times.   My next step is the ER!  I have notice that pre gluten milk free diet, I would have very lose and pale yellow bowel movements. Now they are regular but the pain continues. I am very afraid.  I have done research and I know there is a possibility that I may have Crohns or Ulcerative Colitis.

For the last 6 years I have been anemic and no doctor has been able to find the source.   Also, for about a week in August, I had very lose bloody bowel movements following a week of constipation.

If anyone has any ideas or advice, it will be welcomed !!!!!!   Could my digestive tract, specifically my colon be badly damage resulting in pain?

Good luck at your appointment with the GI doctor tomorrow.  It very well could be Crohn's, your story is very similar to what I dealt with before my diagnosis.  I cut out numerous types of foods from my diet, only to have nothing help decrease the pain.

My Crohn's disease is in my small intestine, in the ileum, and the pain was in my lower right side but would radiate throughout the rest of my abdomen.  The ileum was basically red, blistered, and swollen on the colonoscopy I had done.  This caused anemia in me, since there was not only trace amounts of bleeding in my intestine but my intestines were also not absorbing all of the nutrients and vitamins from my food.  This could possibly have something to do with what has been going on with you.

Don't be afraid of a Crohn's or UC diagnosis!  My life is so much better now that I know I have Crohn's.  With medications, I can actually eat whatever I want, and I rarely have abdominal pain anymore.
