Right now, I'm doing ok with the CD. I put on 80 pounds when pregnant with my son. I've only been able to lose 1/2 of that so far. My son is now three, so I can't laugh it off and call it "baby weight" anymore.
I'm in TOPS, but I'm also working 2 jobs (as is my husband), so I'm exhausted all of the time. Finding time for exercise should be higher on my priority list, but I'm just so wiped out.
I used to be able to just eat a little healthier and drop some weight. That's not working. When I do the "eat salads, high fiber, etc" thing, I wind up in the hospital with a blockage
(of some degree or another). This has happened three times over the last 12 months.
I'm getting so frustrated. I don't weigh enough to do the surgeries (I'm 5 foot
1 (or 2) ish) and fluctuate from 195 to 215 pounds. My pre-son fighting weight was about 150.
I've never been *small* but I would like to be able to be more comfortable in my body, you know. Help? Please???
Hi Heather,
I'm new to MedHelp, but I have been diagnosed with CD for about 16 years (wrongly diagnosed prior to that with IBS). I have struggled for so long with weight! Recently, I started seeing a nurse practicioner about this, and she is treating me for insulin
resistance and put me on Metformin. Since then (June) I have lost about 23 pounds. It is incredible! Now, I will tell you that, for me, it does have some very real bowel side effects, BUT (no pun intended)....I have upset stomach so often anyway, it's not that big a deal. I've also found that, since I can't do high fiber b/c of the CD, I eat a lot of yogurt and "soft" fibers (oatmeal, cereals, etc.) It might be something to at least ASK about. Oh, as for my CD, I take 6mp and do pretty well.
Hi Heather,
you might want to try a diet of easily digestible protein (like fish or chicken) and steamed vegetables. like an atkins diet, but healthier (no high-fat meat, etc). a lot of people say to avoid eating carbohydrates with colits/cd anyway, and if you do this, you'll also cut
try undergoing a homeopathic treatment.. my daughter (diagnosed with crohns disease and chronic fatigue) was very satisfied not only with the results but since the whole process doesn't include any surgery or steroids.
