Ulcerative Colitis Rash

I was diagnosed with UC back in 2006.  The first GI I went to told me it would go away because it was not that severe.  In 2009 I thought they were going to have to remove some of my colon.  So I am now on a strict diet and take daily medications.  I had the rash come up by the corner of my mouth.  It looks awful.  I saw on the internet that UC causes skin rashes.  I have pretty much learned to deal with my UC, but how can I get this rash to at least calm down.  One day it is barely there, the next day it is very red and flared up?  Is there anything that I can put on it at home?  I do keep it mosturized because it does become flaky.
