Ulcerative colitis medicine

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colities Sept 2009 and spent 9 days in hospital.  Have been on Lialda 1.2 since then & take 2 ea day. First few months I took 6 per day.   Have had no recurrence in entire year but have very poor prescription plan and need to switch drug Lialda will cost over $300/month and I really cannot afford it.  What would be a good alternative drug.  Price is very important.

Pentasa or Asacol are often used.  Talk to your doctor.  He may be able to help you with samples or to get help from the drug companies.  My son did and was given free drugs until he was in better financial shape.
