I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's and while my symptoms have been fairly mild and I've had very little problem continuing to do things as I always have, I have lost a pretty good chunk of weight. What is a good method for gaining weight with Crohn's since eating alot isn't much of an option? I'm only looking to put on maybe 10 pounds, so..?
Hi and welcome to the forum. I have had Crohn's for 38 yrs and when the disease is active I lose weight rapidly. I am currently having tests (small bowel follow through and colonoscopy) for some strictures
in the small intestine and am unable to eat without severe pain. My gastro has prescribed 4 bottles of Fortijuice daily - each bottle has 200 ml, and 300 calories, so I am maintaining my weight (98 lbs). This is the only solution we have found for the 28 lb weight loss since June this year. The Fortijuice has all the vitamins and minerals you need to stay alive and is pleasant to drink - it comes in various flavours - I have lemon and also blackcurrant. Could be worth a try.
