Hello,my boyfriend has crohn disease but now he is in remission. He made the test calprotectin detect. The test shows the presence of cal protectin but the lines are not clear. Please reply if he should worry.thank you
I am not sure what you mean by "the lines are not clear"......however, I regularly have a calprotectin stool assay test, as it is non-invasive, and cheap for the medics to do. Additionally, it does not involve ironising radiation
, as do colonoscopies and upper endoscopies, CT * MRI scans etc. It really is just a "pointer", showing inflammation somewhere in the GI tract, but cannot detect where. I vaguely remember that if the calprotectin level is above 8, then this shows inflammation. Try googling "calprotectin stool assay test" for more detailed information.
Hello Liz,
In the result window can be seen one , two or three colored lines which show only the presence of calprotectin, but not cantitative. The result test of my boyfriend shows all lines but 2 of them are diaphanous.Anyway he ll repeat today again and furthermore he will go to hospital to repeat there also.
Thank you for your reply.
