lots of blood while deficating

Back in Sept I had been diagnosed with diverticulitis. My last menses was a week late (5/7/11) I was under the impression I was still on my period but I have been wearing the same pad all day and there's nothing there. I've went to the bathroom 3 times today in the last 9 hrs and each and every time there was a LOT of blood. There was so much blood in the water I couldn't see the stool. I'm not having any pain while using the bathroom. I know I was on my period but I am not sure if this just started today. I've had small pains to the right of my belly button, nothing I thought would be any more significant than that I've had before. I don't have a gall bladder any longer (8 yrs ago) as well as my tubes have been tied (9 yrs ago). I am not sure what I'm supposed to do... Is this ER visit time or is it something that I can put off until I can afford to go to a personal Dr.?
