malnutrition secondary to diarrhea

My mother-in-law lost 20 lbs in 6 months due to chronic diarrhea.She has all the symptoms of crohn's disease but denies the problem when seen by his doctors.Will ensure liquid help her problem at this time untill we can convince her to see a gastroenterologist?

I also lost a significant amount of weight with my Crohns and yes, Ensure helps to get in more calories during the day.  Also, doctors were giving me potassium pills in the hospital, my potassium deficiency was caused by diarrhea.  If she is losing blood through her stools you might also want to suggest to her to take an iron supplement, as she may become anemic.
