my mom's pain in lower right side

my mom is 70 years old she has diabetis and had open heart 11 years ago but for the last 2 years or so she has had this pain in her lower right side that now is more often when ever she is up and moving around it hurts and the pain is unbareable her doctor said there's nothing there he's run a number oftest and no info yet and now we are very conserned that it my be to late when someone does find out what this is, if you can help please tell me what you think I want my mom to have a MRI do you think this is a good idea?
