I have never asked questions online but I need some help. I was diagnosed with ulceratve proctitits last year and it comes and goes. I was put on Canasa which I used for a while and the rectal
bleeding seemed to get better so I stopped using it. It is now back and I have almost daily blood in my stools and in the toilet. The doctor said to start back on the canasa (I had a sigmoidoscopy last year which confirmed the proctitits and had a colonoscopy 3 yr ago which was normal). I am now on Cigna Health Insurance and when I went to pick up the canasa it was going to be $378 for a one month supply until we met our $2400 deductible. Does anyone know of a medicine other than canasa which might work better as I did not think it really worked that well that would be covered by medical plan. I just do not have $378 per month and my doctor said I may need to be on this for a long time. I did try asacol for one month but I felt that it made it actually worse.
Can you not talk to your insurance and your doctor about a comparable drug? One of those two should be able to provide you with additional information. Sorry I can't be of help. :(
