using Elavil

I have been diagnosed with U.C for around 7 yrs.  For the past 2 yrs it has gone to chronic U.C- I have tried every drug on the market, plus.  My doctor would like me to try Elavil.  I wanted to know if this drug is one that has shown improvement in people with chronic U.C.  I have been on Sulfasalazine, Canasa, Methotrexate, Remnicade,Azathioprine, Asacol and Rowsa.  I'm currently on 16mg of Prednisone, 1600 mg of Asacol, 2 Amoduim's, and will be starting 9mg of Entocart. I have my 8th IV therapy of Remnicade this month.  My doctor has used elavil a lot for these kinds of issues but the fact that its a antidepression concerns me.  Thank you MnM
