what could cause elvated liver enzymes?

my son has been living with crohns since he was 3 and now he is 8 and it has been an uphil battle for him to be outbreak free. my question is this. what are some of the things that could cause liver enzymes to become elevated and keep elevating as time goes on? my son is on entocort, niferex ,singulair ,nexium and he was on imuran but he got taken of because they thought thats what was causing the elivated liver enzymes but so far instead of going down the are going up. he also suffers from celiac and that is well maneged. he is having an eeg/ colonoscopy and liver biopsy done to check some stuff and i was wondering if this is a good course to take . thanks for the time and god bless

Hi,

Apparently you can have elevated liver enzymes if you have Celiac disease.  I am not exactly sure why.  Imuran also causes this.  I, too, have Crohn's disease and elevated liver enzymes, but am not taking Imuran, so we're trying to figure out what's going on.  Good luck to you!

my mother almost died last month because her liver enzymes were so high and kept going up but they found out it was her gallblader that was causing all the problems she stayed in the hospital for 8 days with no food and nothing to drink by mouth and everything started to go down so they removed her gallblader and now she is fine. Her levels were 33,000 and they said the normal levels are @ 20.

Can I ask you a question if you dont mind how did you no your son had crohns at age 3?
Im just worried my 2 year old might have crohns also but I dont no much about it.He has had C-Diff twice now last time he stayed in hospitial. He always has diarreah and to me that not normal plus he use to weight 30 pounds now he is 23 pounds and he wants to eat all the time its like he never gets full.He olny had blood in his stool when he was 3 months old which did go away. What were some of the things your baby had?Thankyou
