Approval rating plunges?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/06/obama-approval-rating_n_2816045.html?icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl11|sec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D279165

Looks like this may be a sign of the times.  Everyone is upset and seeing this for what its worth.  Too many stubborn people in DC.

One must remember how and why this so called sequester came about no?
It is a compiled bunch of stuff meant to hurt bad, for both sides, in order to prevent them not coming to a deal, remember? It was so dumb and so idiotic that no one thought it would ever come to pass. Think about that for a minute!
Both sides voted for this, BOTH sides thought it a great idea! Obama misjudged the republicans which is his big mistake.I hold him responsible for that part of it.  He should have asked me as I could have told him that they would do exactly what they have done! I nor many other citizens are not in the least bit surprised at it. Then I predicted that they would minimize the effect on the defense side of things because this is their pet project. Wow! I think it took them a week maybe to do just that?

But big oil still have their subsidys no? Well of course they do! Stupid! Stupid and more stupid.

Stock market is thru the roof cause corporations are sitting on money and are at their highest profits ever, while the average person counts their pennies and wonders how they will pay their mortgage and feed their kids on those min wage jobs. Something better happen and fast.

The people WILL take care of it if it keeps going.

I really hope so. They need to know how angry we are. Furthermore, they do not deserve their positions of leadership if they cannot work together to do their jobs. This is just scandalous.

Yes, the ratings have dropped and the congressional ratings are in the toilet and have been for some time now. Both dems and republicans are responsible for this latest disaster and everyone knows it and everyone is sick and tired of the obstructionism and infighting and the obvious power plays. Seems we the people are living in the land of the lost. No one can get over their own ego long enuff to do whats right for the country it seems. The people WILL take care of it if it keeps going.

"I think this frustration is being reflected certainly in their view of the president and Congress as well. This is a pox on everyone's house really," Clark said."

That's pretty much where I stand. I do blame the repubs a little more than the average American though!..

I think the fall in points is justified and deserved. The President should reach out a little more to few repubs in congress that will work with him. I am a disappointed in his handling of this "sequestration" and the fact that he couldn't round up congress and get something done. He needs to be more assertive and more firm and unfortunately he HAS to work a little bit for the repubs to even take him seriously...

That being said,

I do know he is reaching out more, so we'll see. I think Brice has a post on it.

Ridiculous. And they get paid. We dont get a free day off unless here are feet of snow and many folks dont get paid for it if they are hourly.

Heard about that "day off" thing on the way to work this morning.... Unbelievable.  If it snows here, we go about our business and seldom does anyone miss a day of work because of the weather.

Look we all know the system is corrupt and broken. I don't think anyone who would make it to the presidency at the present time, could possibly have a high rating for long.

Not sure if this is the place to mention it, but did you guys know that if it snows ( at all ) in DC the government takes the day off ??

Squester was Obama's idea, he floated out the "end of the world" talk. He he should take a ton of flack for this for his own words.
But with that said he can't do anything about it, it is up to Congress to do it. Dems want more tax increases and will not budge, Rep's want spending cuts and will not budge. If Dems give in will Obama sign the legislation? Will a budget ever get passed?

Both sides need to start to shut up and realize what they are doing to our country, then work to fix it. But they wont. :(

I don't know how he couldn't be taking any flack right now.  I support the guy, but weve got to get this thing slowed down and turned around.  I'm waiting for the next crisis that takes our mind off of the sequestration.  Won't take long by my math.

lol...I am stumbling around in the dark today too.

I agree. I do like him but he is certainly not above criticism. Right now it feels like we don't have any leaders whatever party.

For me, it isn't about him pulling a rabbit out of his hat.  And I am not trying to start a war...  Most of us here know and understand that the President isn't the only guy in DC.  Some of us at times give him complete credit or complete disregard depending on the subject and where one stands with any particular subject.

But... the guy is the face of the nation.  If people are going to give him all of the praise, some are more than bound to give him the middle finger when things don't go as planned.  I guess that is one of the bad things about being President.... you get the finger when things don't go well.  (Ask Bush... he knows.)

Well that is embarrassing!!!

Sorry, for some reason I mixed up the threads! geesh, need more coffee.

Since I am on the subject though I will go ahead and stumble through another comment.
I think that even though Congress,in my opinion is responsible for this mess, some of us cannot help but  feel frustrated with the President for not pulling a rabbit out of the hat. I was hoping he could somehow find a way to avoid this and my suspicious side wonders how much he really wanted to avoid the sequester himself. I trust him more than Boehner but don't really trust any politician so I am grumbling a little too.

No, and I *said* it was tongue in cheek. I should never have brought it up in a political light, so I won't be annoyed with you for that comment.
It is interesting that primate see that people who are selfish are not trustworthy or so it seems. I wonder how many of us trust our own instincts about ppl in these situations.

Maybe people are starting to see Obama for who he is?
