I think a solar storm from the sun is a greater possibility as we have seen some strong ones mess with our communications but nothing to knock anything out for a while. But since the sun is at a solar low peak (explains why global temps have not risen :) ), it might not be for a while to get something magnificant from the sun.
That's the coolest thing you've ever posted.
I'm buying the full set, as we speak.

"In 1859, a solar storm threw an electromagnetic pulse at Earth so strong, it fried the telegraph system. A whole lot more is on the line now. Bob speaks with Rocky Rawlins of the Survivor Library about his preparations for getting zapped back to a time before computers and an electric grid. "

The Survivor Library is a compilation of the tech advances we gained from the early 1800s to the early 1900s. One of the observations Mr. Rawlins makes is, that in putting this together, he came to realize what a harsh life people had at that time compared to now, but it wasn't bad compared to life in the 1400-1500s. It's interesting just to see the list of all these areas of knowledge even if you have no interest in learning beekeeping or blacksmithing.
