Giuliani: Obama doesn't love America

Washington (CNN) Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday night he doesn't believe President Barack Obama "loves America," according to a report

"I do not believe -- and I know this is a horrible thing to say -- but I do not believe that the president loves America," said Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and one-time presidential contender, according to Politico. "He doesn't love you. And he doesn't love me. He wasn't brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country."

Giuliani made the remarks Wednesday during a private dinner event at the upscale 21 Club in Manhattan that featured Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who is closely considering a presidential bid.

Giuliani added that he would support a presidential candidate who will express the notion that the U.S. is "the most exceptional country in the world."

"And if it's you Scott, I'll endorse you," he added, sitting a few seats away from Walker. "And if it's somebody else, I'll support somebody else."

Giuliani clarified Thursday on Fox News that he was "not questioning [Obama's] patriotism."

"He's a patriot, I'm sure," Giuliani said. "What I'm saying is, in his rhetoric, I very rarely hear him say the things that I used to hear Ronald Reagan say, the things that I used to hear Bill Clinton say about how much he loves America."

Giuliani added that he hears Obama "criticize America much more often than other American presidents" and that he sounds "like he's more of a critic than he is a supporter."

"You can be a patriotic American and be a critic, but then you're not expressing that kind of love that we're used to from a president," Giuliani said.

Walker's office and Giuliani's office did not immediately return CNN's request for comment.

Walker, meanwhile, honed in on the flaws of Mitt Romney's unsuccessful 2012 presidential campaign as he addressed an audience of GOP elites, business leaders and academics on Wednesday night.

"The big thing I thought Mitt Romney's campaign missed more than anything was we already knew the narrative that the economy was failing, and that there was a compelling case to get rid of the president," Walker said according to the New York Daily News. "What we never heard — or at least didn't hear very clearly — was why Mitt Romney would be a better alternative."

Here's the good, band and ugly according to the way I see it.

"Obama wanted to bring the two parties together."  That was all talk to get votes from people that were fed up with but traditionally vote republican.  By saying he wanted to get the two parties together, what he means is, "if the republicans will start to act and think like democrats, I think we can work together.

"...his intentions were to rip this country apart."  I don't really know what his intentions were.  He didn't have a realistic idea on how things work in DC, so I'm not sure he had a clue as to what it was that he may or may not accomplish.

I agree with el.  Not sure when race relations have been worse except for the 50's and earlier.  "Trayvon could have been my son" and Ferguson were high talking points.... on race.  If you weren't with him, you were against him and its been that way since he got elected.  And of course, if you werent with him, "you're a racist".

On the global stage, I think we look no better than we did prior to 2008.  Maybe even worse.  The polarity within this country hasn't been as divided as it is now, IMO.  I don't see much happening to close that gap either.

On paper, the economy seems to be recovering but I don't feel good about it.  I have little trust that our government has it in them to tell the truth and I honestly don't believe that they really know what is going on.  I think they cook the books and leave out relevant pieces of the puzzle when they put a spit shine on things like the economy.

I'm worn out on him protecting Islam/Muslims.  Most functional Americans understand that not all Muslims are bad people.  Its redundant to keep preaching it, especially when the good Muslims won't take a stand of their own and point out the bad eggs or do more to distance themselves from the radicals.

We had a long road of us in 2008 and I still don't believe we've even left the depot.

Calm down
I'm no fan of Obama's but yes, I think at the very beginning he tried to bring the parties together

Personally, I think the whole mess in Washington needs to be booted out and we start with a clean slate that does not include the Orwellian named, Citizen's United ruling.

And no, I don't agree that his intention was to rip this country apart. Although divide and conquer was originated by the Romans and it's sure doing a good job here isn't it ? Instead of working together to improve things, we're caught up in petty squabbles. My smarter half, tells me it's like the magician getting us to look at one hand while they do something they don't want us to see with the other.

What ON EARTH have you been looking at, since this guy was elected in 2008?!? He's done NOTHING but try and rip this country and the Constitution to shreds.

He's driven an even bigger wedge between blacks & whites than there ever was before, except maybe the 1950's. Can you say that race-relations were better, or worse, before he took office... honestly.

Please tell me you're not serious.

And save the whole "Oh, pullleeeeze." b/s. It doesn't serve you well. Makes you sound like Teko.

Even his OWN party think this.

Oh, pullleeeeze. This is ridiculous
. Loving your country doesn't mean you don't want to change it for the better.

And who believes it when politicians rant about how much they love their country or their constituents ? It's all about politics and nothing more.

I don't beleive Obama tried to tear this country apart. At the begnning of his first term in office he tried to include members of the opposite party in his platform to bring people together and the party of No simply saw that as weak.

I am not a big Obama fan, but this shouldn't even be considered news.

Don't we remember Michelle saying "this is the first time I've been proud of America"?  That was when Obama was elected in 2008...

Guiliani is right - Obama is always criticizing and apologizing for the United States when there's no reason to... That's because he's never loved this country and he's done everything he could to tear it apart.  I hate to think what it will be like by 2016...

I'm glad someone finally came out and said it publicly.

It isn't anything I haven't been thinking since the jokey was elected.

How in the hell did we end up with a guy in the WH that doesn't think this is the greatest country on earth?!?

You'd think that'd be a pre-requisite for even crossing the threshold!

LOVE OF COUNTRY should come first, above anything else, if you're going to hold the office of POTUS. Above family. Above friends. Above political party. Above personal opinions. Above ego. Above EVERYTHING.

And people wonder why he's trying to tear the country apart? He's got no love for it.

2016 can't come quickly enough.
