Health insurers shifting costs ahead of law: report

Well...they have plenty of time to do this.  They have been given time by our dear Government just like the credit card companies were given time to figure out ways to make up losses ahead of time or on time.

Obama addressed that the insurance companies needed to be capped before passage of the bill, but the republicans raised hail as usual. Definate no go and a few dems agreed with them so he could not do it. As we all know we did not get Obamas bill, but the watered down version of it. I bet if we googled it we could find out the names of those who stopped it too. Hey Rory? You got any info handy on this?

If there's a will there's a way and those who want to circumvent the law will find a way to do it.  Yes, Mary, it's in the bill that 80 -85% of of premiums has to be spent on health care claims, but that's one of the things that doesn't go into effect until 2014.

The insurers were upping the premiums before the health care bill even passed. I think it was Blue cross that upped premiums 39% to people who did not have employer based health care.

They are paying big bucks to come up with ways to circumvent the new law.  Four years is a lot of time to do it...lol!  Don't you wish we were given that much time to comply with changes?

The only thing that might prevent them from doing this is.......the health care bill requires that 80% or 85% of premiums be spent on actual health care claims. This provision was put in place for just this reason. They knew the insurance companies would be looking for loop-holes to screw us with.

I think this was one of the things I mentioned as soon as the health care bill was passed.  Since it's now law, one of the first things that should have gone into effect was that insurers can't start jacking up the prices right away.  As it is, they have 4 years to get them WAY out of reach.
