Michelle Obama: Woman president should happen ASAP

(CNN) – Michelle Obama said Monday she's "definitely" not jumping into politics, but suggested the United States might not be too far away from having its first woman commander in chief.

Asked at the Washington event if she would consider a political career once her husband leaves the White House in 2017, Mrs. Obama gave a flat no.

"And I think this country is ready," she added.

"The person who should do the job is the person who's the most qualified. And we have some options, don't we?" she said, stoking further speculation that Hillary Clinton could fill the role if she decides to run.

Mrs. Obama, the self-proclaimed "mom-in-chief," also said at a summit focused on work-family policies that she doesn't care what kind of job her teenage daughters get - just as long as it pays.

Mrs. Obama was asked by ABC's Robin Roberts at the event to expand on comments she and President Barack Obama made in a recent interview that their daughters Sasha and Malia should know the experience of working a minimum-wage job.

The first lady said she doesn't care what kind of job they get, "just a job that pays them."

"It really doesn't matter what it is," she continued. "I think the whole point is that they learn how to roll up their sleeves and work hard and understand what the vast majority of folks in this country have to do to earn a living and that it's not glamorous and that it's not fun all the time."

In an interview with Parade Magazine released last week, the first lady said she worked at a bindery while in high school and the President said he scooped ice cream and worked as a waiter at an assisted living facility.

Those experiences, they’ve said, shaped their understanding of hard work and is something they’d like their daughters to get a taste of.

The summit focused on employee policies that best help working families.

I would actually also like to see President be former military. If you are the Commander-in-Chief then you should have military experience.

Well Hillary was a lawyer and then a house wife and then a Congressman and then Sec State. But did she ever do a good job? I think not.

Anyone can and should hold the office but you need to prove you can and have done well in previous jobs and have EXPERIENCE.

I have no problem with a woman sitting in the WH as President of the United States.

But that woman needs to be QUALIFIED (ie: not just the wife of a former U.S. President).

The right qualified person for the job, period. If it's a woman, fantastic. If it's a midget, awesome. If it's a paraplegic, great. If it's a member of the LGBT community, kudos.

But please... can we PLEASE make sure we vote a qualified person into office this time? Miserable FAIL the last time around. Lets not make the same mistake again.

(let the Bush bashing begin)
