No Election fraud here

Many liberals are adamant there is no threat of voter fraud that justifies efforts to improve the integrity of elections. “There is no real concrete evidence of voter fraud,” tweeted Donna Brazile, former acting chair of the Democratic National Committee, this week. “It’s a big *** lie.”

James O’Keefe, the guerilla filmmaker who brought down the ACORN voter-registration fraudsters in 2010 and forced the resignation of NPR executives, politely disagrees. Today, he is releasing some new undercover footage that raises disturbing questions about ballot integrity in Colorado, the site of fiercely contested races for the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House, and the governorship. When he raised the issue of filling out some of the unused ballots that are mailed to every household in the state this month, he was told by Meredith Hicks, the director of Work for Progress, a liberal group funded by Democratic Super PACS.: “That is not even like lying or something, if someone throws out a ballot, like if you want to fill it out you should do it.”

Yes, it seems we cannot discuss anything here anymore. I think the forum has served its purpose. Sad but obvious I think.

Here's hoping 2016 brings some kind of middle ground.

Take the Red AND the Blue off the ballots for at least the next two election cycles and let the Greens and Libertarians go at it. At this point they at least seem more sincere  --  if only because no one has thought they are worth getting at yet. I will probably vote against the Republicans this time, if only because I believe the damage they do to our country while stuffing their pockets is worse than the damage democrats do to the country while stuffing their pockets.

Still think National Election Standards would help. And mark your paper ballot with a pen.

That was a “Slugfest” and LSU was able to hand Ole Miss their 1st loss. If we had a seasoned Quarterback instead of 2 Freshmen, we would probably be undefeated. But that’s what happens when you don’t recruit.

2016 scares the Hell out of me. In a couple of weeks the Republicans will take Congress and probably the Senate. More than likely we won’t see much change in the next 2 years, regardless of who takes the Senate. But in 2016 the whole “Kit and Caboodle ” is up for grabs. With this Administration, I’ve seen what will happen if the House, Senate, and President are controlled by Democrats and I’ve seen what will happen if the House is controlled by Republicans with someone like Obama as President. If someone like Obama or Hillary runs and wins, more than likely we will see a repeat of what we have been through.
The only way I see any change is for the Republicans to sweep the House, Senate, and Presidency in 2016. That’s what scares the Hell out of me but, I know we can’t keep going down the path we are on. If it doesn’t work out, The Democrats can always take The House back in 2018 and we can go back into Limbo.

As far as Voter Fraud? We all know both Parties are guilty of it; so just pointing fingers at one Party doesn’t sit well with me. We are all “somewhat” intelligent here so, it is hard for me to believe anyone actually thinks their party is above it.
I’ve read all the links claiming there is little to no voter fraud. The fact is, we have no idea how ramped it is. This is why I am for Voter Ids. No one has been able to give me a logical explanation of why it is not a good idea. I think I’ve heard every argument there is but the most ridicules one I’ve heard is that it is discriminating against Blacks. If The NAACP, J. Jackson, and Al Sharpton weren’t such hypocrites, they would be in an uproar.

Well, time to eat an Ambian and hopefully be asleep in about 20 minutes.

Go Tigers!

Shows how polarized things have become. You and I used to (mostly) get the same answers, even when we came at it from different directions. Now it seems we've come down on opposite sides of the fence. Here's hoping 2016 brings some kind of middle ground.

I don't think I trust factcheck.org any further than I can throw it.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2923825/posts

"If you look behind the scenes at these phony "fact check" sites, you find that they are funded by organizations with political biases. You must always ask yourself. Who is writing about this so-called "truth." Who funds the site and pays their expenses. What are the origins and history of the funders and who are they associated with. In the case of factcheck.org they receive their funding from the liberal Annenberg Foundation.

The Annenberg Foundation was originally founded by Walter J. Annenberg, a conservative who supported Ronald Reagan. However, when Walter Annenberg died, his family took over the management of the foundation and it took a turn to the far left and has ties to radical left individuals such as Bill Ayers and his friend and fellow left wing radical collegue Barack Obama. How is factcheck.org associated with these people:

To start, Ayers was the key founder of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which was a Chicago public school reform project from 1995 to 2001. Upon its start in 1995, Obama was appointed Board Chairman and President of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Geesh, that alone connects all three. Well, it branches out even more from there.

Ayers co-chaired the organization’s Collaborative, which set the education policies of the Challenge. Oddly enough, Obama was the one who was authorized to delegate to the Collaborative in regards to its programs and projects. In addition to that, Obama often times had to seek advice and assistance from the Ayer’s led Collaborative in regards to the programmatic aspects of grant proposals. Ayers even sat on the same board as Obama as an “ex officio member”. They both also sat together on the board of the CAC’s Governance Committee. Obama and Ayers were two parts of a group of four who were instructed to draft the bylaws that would govern the CAC. Keep in mind that the “A” in CAC is for Annenberg, the owners of FactCheck.org. The funding for Ayer’s projects and those of his cronies was approved by Board Chair, Barack Obama."

The point is, this is nothing new, and to avoid the sources issue, lets just go straight to the factchecking.org site and see what hindsight tells us about the previous voter fraud conspiracys. Here is just a few. Some of us will remember these Im sure.

Sorry, I'm not going to attack your link (allvoices.com), but after doing some research on it, I'm still seeing the majority of this as propaganda.

Let's face it, it's not just the Republicans - the Democrats are doing it just as much and being just as dramatic about it. Anyone who can say it's okay for one side to do it and not the other is even more "misguided" than I am...

We could play this Ping Pong Game all night long, but for now LSU/Ole Miss & Alabama (Tide)/ Tennessee   is playing.

GREENSBORO, N.C. –The presidential election is just around the corner and voting issues have already become a problem in Guilford County.
On Monday, several voters complained that their electronic ballot machine cast the wrong vote. All the complaints were made by people who voted at the Bur-Mil Park polling location.
One of the voters, Sher Coromalis, says she cast her ballot for Governor Mitt Romney, but every time she entered her vote the machine defaulted to President Obama.

http://patdollard.com/2012/10/breaking-north-carolina-machines-turning-romney-votes-into-obama-votes/

Now that we’ve had the same problem in both North Carolina and Ohio, clearly there is a national problem with these machines, and it looks like if voters themselves don’t catch it, it’s not gonna get caught. Also, why is the calibration such that the votes are going to Obama? We’ve had reports in two different states of this happening a few times, and with each report, the machine gave the vote to Obama. Disturbing that the mistake only happens in favor of the incumbent. Who owns and calibrates these machines?

Not calibration.

http://www.allvoices.com/article/13343736

"The voter that caught the issue said, “I initially selected Obama but Romney was highlighted. I assumed it was being picky so I deselected Romney and tried Obama again, this time more carefully, and still got Romney. Being a software developer, I immediately went into troubleshoot mode. I first thought the calibration was off and tried selecting Jill Stein to actually highlight Obama. Nope. Jill Stein was selected just fine. Next I deselected her and started at the top of Romney’s name and started tapping very closely together to find the ‘active areas.' From the top of Romney’s button down to the bottom of the black checkbox beside Obama’s name was all active for Romney. From the bottom of that same checkbox to the bottom of the Obama button (basically a small white sliver) is what let me choose Obama. Stein’s button was fine. All other buttons worked fine,” according to MSNBC."

I should have left that alone, just like I shouldn't have muddied that other post with the Paul Krugman article.

The important issue is:

"There is little evidence to suggest that in-person voter impersonation is a problem. What we did see as Election Day moved closer was voter registration fraud. "

&

"In 2012, voter ID laws and early voting rights became a tool for voter suppression, and it is virtually impossible to sound nonpartisan on this issue because the changes were all made in states controlled by Republicans."

&

"In 2008, Barack Obama won the White House with a lot of votes from demographic groups that used early voting. Therefore the Republican logic was, if they can stop those people from voting, they have a better chance of winning.

Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, and dozens of other states, have all changed their rules by voter ID requirements, or by shortening or eliminating early voting access. Every single limit on voting in 2012 has been pushed by Republicans – and only Republicans.

In what is now a well-known YouTube video, Republican Mike Turzai actually admitted that the reason for Pennsylvania’s new voter ID laws were to make it easier for Mitt Romney to win the traditionally blue state."

Why America needs national voting law standards

http://www.allvoices.com/article/13281036

"If there is one thing that the 2012 elections have had in abundance, it is confusion. If America is serious about free and fair democratic elections, there should be minimum national standards for voting.

It became apparent this year that different voter ID laws in different states are part of the problem. In the past two years, Republican state legislatures began enacting voter ID laws. They claimed the laws were needed because of in-person voter fraud.

There is little evidence to suggest that in-person voter impersonation is a problem. What we did see as Election Day moved closer was voter registration fraud.

Voter registration fraud has been discovered in five swing states in connection with the Republican National Committee, who paid Strategic Allied Consulting $3 million for their services.

“A GOP-backed consulting firm may have submitted "hundreds" of faked voter registration forms in Florida, according to the Florida Department of State,” according to ABC News.

NBC News reported, “A campaign worker linked to a controversial Republican consulting firm has been arrested in Virginia and charged with throwing voter registration forms into a dumpster.”

This type of fraud cannot be stopped by showing an ID at polling places and has clearly presented itself as more of an issue than in-person voter impersonation.

These problems create an urgent need for federal standards in voter registration.

Similar to the way Social Security numbers are issued, every citizen could be issued a voter registration number at birth, regardless of which state they are born in. When that person reaches the national voting age, a voting ID card could be issued.

No system is perfect, but a national standard is better than 50 different ways to achieve the same thing. It may also help deter those who might want to commit voter registration fraud.

Most Americans agree, voting is a fundamental right in a democracy. And in order for any democracy to survive, elections have to be free and fair.

In 2012, voter ID laws and early voting rights became a tool for voter suppression, and it is virtually impossible to sound nonpartisan on this issue because the changes were all made in states controlled by Republicans.

There is a reason for that.

In 2008, Barack Obama won the White House with a lot of votes from demographic groups that used early voting.

In what is now a well-known YouTube video, Republican Mike Turzai actually admitted that the reason for Pennsylvania’s new voter ID laws were to make it easier for Mitt Romney to win the traditionally blue state.

States have proven that they cannot be trusted to view elections as an American right, and not a tool for partisan manipulation of the voting process, particularly in light of 2012 voter suppression efforts, the effects of which may never be fully known.

This has got to stop.

National voting standards are common in other countries, so there is no excuse for the US to not catch up to the rest of the civilized world.

The federal government must set a uniform standard for early voting in all 50 states.

Problem solved.

Elections can’t be controlled by one political party. And attempts by politicians to control the outcome of elections through unethical means, makes them traitors to the Constitution they vowed to defend."

Once again, none other than Republican Secretary of State Scott Gessler is obliged to confirm the news that any voter conversant with the process already knows: this is completely bogus. Other than overseas deployed members of the military, who had the option of being emailed a ballot before last year's election modernization bill, nobody can "print a ballot from their home computer."

It's important to remember that this was not intended to cause controversy locally, since locals know that you can't print a ballot from your computer. The purpose of this very deliberate lie from FOX News is to generate even more vote fraud mythology to reinforce the beliefs of a segment of the electorate who already believes it's happening.

Just like James O'Keefe's baiting low-level campaign workers to recite an unworkable fraud proposal, the facts simply do not support the hysteria. Because we think FOX News either knows or should know such elementary facts about Colorado voting law before broadcasting them, the only reasonable conclusion is that the hysteria is an end unto itself.

Watch the video above and tell us we're wrong.

As per the article we are discussing. Yes, its propaganda, false, and implies something that wasnt happening, just to satisfy those who want to hear it with 10 days before an election. Watch out! It only gets worse from here.

There was another incident that fox news made up and said one state could print their own ballots, (implying fraud), and it raised such a ruckus that they got a response from the state who said they were making it up, no such thing, and in case nobody knew, the military has always been able to do that since they are absent from the vote.....

Sound desperate? Thats because it is, and its only meant to turn out their base, as everyone else? Already knows better.

Sorry Barb but I have to say it...Paul Krugman is an F'N idiot.

He is a bold face liar and when someone calls him out on something he is a coward and will not debate the issue and will not respond to an actual debate.

So the working class do not have photo ID's? Most working class people own a car, thus they must have a dirvers lisence. And the poor can not get a free photo ID but can afford cigaretts and beer?

The left can keep making excuses why a photo ID is wrong but every argument that is made holes are punched right through it.

WTF does Colorado's silly *** mail-in voting experiment have to do with voter ID?

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/24/opinion/paul-krugman-plutocrats-against-democracy.html?

".....And now you understand why there’s so much furor on the right over the alleged but actually almost nonexistent problem of voter fraud, and so much support for voter ID laws that make it hard for the poor and even the working class to cast ballots. American politicians don’t dare say outright that only the wealthy should have political rights — at least not yet. But if you follow the currents of thought now prevalent on the political right to their logical conclusion, that’s where you end up."

I believe the term "misguided" was originally aimed at me, in another thread, and I didn't really take it as an "insult"... I took it as an error in judgement because one side of the political arena often believes the other side to be misguided, particularly, those who are intolerant of other views.

Personal insults or attacks, however, are not to be tolerated, any more than name calling, and in future will be deleted, as well.
