I can't find the graph I saw yesterday, showing where these illegal children are coming from. Basically it said that a lot of them are reaching the border from as far as 1200 miles away. Furthermore, the article mentioned that people in Honduras and surrounding areas really didn't have the money to hire "mules" to get their kids here, so they speculated that people already "in country" were sending for these kids.
So, what kind of parent/guardian allows their young to travel with a "mule", someone they don't know? If they aren't coming by mule, how does a kid at the age of 3-10 make the decision and then circumnavigate the globe in order to get here?
What are we being told the truth about? None of this is good, any way you look at it.
I would say that I personally as a Republican just don't think Obama has done a good job. I'm really entitled to feel that way. As the things that I usually agree with more leaning toward the conservative side and he's more liberal, it kind of makes sense that I wouldn't think he's a great president. Sorry if that offends anyone and if it is so hard to believe that I'd feel that way after thoughtful consideration using my own brain to decide this and yes, feel free to put any spin on why if you have to. It doesn't change how I feel about him.
I don't believe we should let 52,000 children across the border.
The racism from the left is masked as joke about the right.
Yes Presidents do need vacation, yet when the Sh&t hits the fan he needs to be in the office, not raising money or golfing.
President Bush's vacations were to his ranch where most of his political people came a long with him and to Camp David. Can't say the same for Obama. he is too scared to go back to Chicago for vacation.
Mike: I was thinking the same thing about the protestations.
I'm glad that if they can't agree on anything else, the 'GOP base' is firmly united in their belief that the seething, venomous hatred over the President's every action, is totally untinged by any hint of racism. It gives me the warm fuzzies.
Major wars going on in Israel, Ukraine, and a dozen other places on the planet, the environment degrading so quickly that not only our children and grandchildren but we ourselves will live to see it, millions of Syrian refugees being absorbed by the countries around them and we fret about a few 10s of thousands of children trying to escape gang violence.
Ha, when I say 'not sure' if I agree, I probably don't as his leisure activities aren't the problem. It's more the job he is doing during work hours that concerns me.
You are right. Everyone deserves some R&R including the president. I don't begrudge him that. Heck he has a ton of pressure on him and NEEDS some R&R. And who knows, maybe he was drumming up support in his own way there with the pool shooting.
I think there is so much tension during this trip to Texas is why this even came up---- the border issue is something that is heavily in the news. People from both parties have weighed in on displeasure with Obama's efforts for border control in Texas (and of course some support him as well) . As a former Texan, securing those borders and allowing people to only enter LEGALLY is something I can see many would be concerned about. I find myself wondering what Obama's intentions are with the borders. Could more be done? And those talks this week were in the media describing a "CRISIS at the Texas Border" which has a sense of urgency to it that it's not that far off to think Obama would actually visit the border.
So, I don't think he has to be working 24/7 or a big deal that he was out playing pool.
That part of the article is about people that are just disgruntled with this president. I'm often not happy with him either. And sometimes he's alright. Depends on the topic. But when you are displeased with the job someone is doing --- you often pick at the little things. Kind of human nature. Not sure I agree with the article being concerned about leisure activities of the President myself. I wouldn't look at it that way. But DO wish he'd work to secure the borders more.
Anyway, hey! Welcome to the forum!!
thanks for doing such a great job here. I think Med Help is lucky to have you and you probably don't hear that often enough.
Oh Barb, who you kidding?
You're really outdoing yourself lately.
Don't all president take some form of vacation? They do deserve it even if Americans feel that they may be on said vacation at an inconvenient time.
Protest? Nah... just statements!!
Me thinks the ladies and gents do protest too much.........
Have fun with the in-laws and out laws. Be sure to bring up touchy subjects like politics or religion. That always makes for an entertaining day, week, month.
Oh lordy. I find those who every single freaking time revert to racism as the source of criticism of Obama to just have some kind of strange issue that I can't put my finger on. It's like a disease. I wish there were a cure. I'd personally give you the vaccine man!
And then tactic number two? Throw some Bush stats in there. Thank goodness Obama has Bush. That's all I can say. I mean, when your kid is stinking on the little league team, you're always happy there is another kid slightly worse than yours so they don't look so bad. Right?
I guess those are natural defense postures.
This has been in the news a lot lately. And as much as I've read, people on both sides are not thrilled with how Obama is doing in this area.
I might be crabby because I have a big in law party today that I'm not up for and thank you for letting me get the grumpies out of my system so I don't get kicked out of the family.
"Talk about racism.. how disgusting... ".... that is easily excused because that is how all Republicans feel. Don't you remember how often we've all been called racists? And yes, it's only a one way street.
Forgot to mention, he wasn't on "vacation", he was on a campaign trip... raising money... he's really good at that -- about the only thing he's good at..
"Because nothing fires up the GOP base like a Black man going on vacation"
Talk about racism.. how disgusting...
"GW Bush 367 vacation days ".... "not a peep from the right". I'm guessing you didn't ask everyone on the right, correct?
"President Obama 92 vacation days" Wasn't that number from last year, August of 2013 to be exact?
Ho hum, since when is your disliking Obama news ??
" No matter how bad you dislike President Bush you have to admit his leadership was a lot better."
"At this point in his Presidency ...
GW Bush 367 vacation days
Not a peep from the Right
President Obama 92 vacation days
Nonstop insults from the Right
Because nothing fires up the GOP base like a Black man going on vacation
