Now I highly doubt that this guy was shot because he was black. I would like to hear the whole story and see what went on before this, but this video in it's self is bad. But lets take the race talk off the table.

I know and understand how you could feel that way, but I'm afraid to make that kind of speculation. Seems as if this guy was of questionable behavior, had some issues in the past, etc.
I'm real good with letting the system have its way with this guy. He might have been the "best cop in the world" but in my opinion he made the worst mistake one can make in a position like that.

Although nobody can prove whether or not this was race related, the reality of what does happen in this country and racial profiling is a reality, makes one question if there was anyway this cop would have killed a white man for running away from him. Somehow I doubt it.
It really doesn't look good for this cop. No justification in it as far as I can see.
No one can know whether race played a part in this murder. I can understand how black people would see this as just another example of the open season on black males. Whatever - it's pure MURDER regardless of race.
I haven't seen anything that says he shot because the motorist was black - they simply pointed out that the cop was white, the motorist was black. It does say the brother of the man who got shot said he doesn't know if it was racially motivated or not.
I'm with Brice on this... this officer had already had complaints against him and had been sited for using excessive force and once the subject was running away, the officer was no longer being threatened, if he had even been threatened in the first place.

So what was said that is defending this police officer?
If I weren't so familiar with the people here I would be stunned that anyone would attempt to defend this cop. But, unfortunately nothing these 2 members say shocks me.
I say this: If anyone can watch the video and defend the cop then I have no idea what reality they're living in. It shows MURDER unequivocally and don't even try to give me that "in the line of duty" nonsense.

If a cop is endanger of being shot, then he is in his rights to shoot the perpetrator.
Otherwise, he committing murder.

At this point, I am not going to stand along side the cop with this incident. I'd need a hell of a lot more proof than what I've read that the cops life was indeed in danger.
Most everything I've read says there was a scuffle over the taser, the taser was dropped, the perp was running away and the cop shot him. Cops life is no longer in danger if the perp is running away making the use of deadly force unnecessary.
We'll see when more information is released.
