Okay, that wasn't nice. My condolences to Melissa.
I just watched this show on her 'kind' of humor which is actually a true type. It's not what comedians today do. but she was hailed as an expert at the craft. Sometimes I liked her and sometime I didn't but watching this show on 'what' she was doing (in terms of this comedy type) gave me more of a respect for her. She also found a way to be 'out there' until the very end.
Now . . . I'm hoping her daughter Melissa will go away. SHE bugged me.
Although I didn't care for her later humor, some of her earlier stuff was hilarious and she did make it at a time when most women comedians were struggling.
Saw a deal yesterday on her career. There was a bit on how Johnny Carson actually gave her career the nudge it needed. Years later she tried her hands at her own show (on Fox, if I'm not mistaken) and Carson quit talking to her at that point.
She was no Johnny Carson, but she obviously had talent. Hard to work in that field that long if you don't. L.A. is full of washed ups and never has beens.
She was one of a kind. Definately talented when you look back from the beginning of her career to now. And still working at the age of 81? That says something all in itself. imo
Never found her even mildly entertaining, but I'm sure she will be missed by many.
