Ha, well. The title of this got my attention. What can I say? I'm immature at times.
I think it is kind of sad that something like climate change has to be political. That's science. I realize that politicians make policy regarding it but wish this didn't have to fall into the category of being a polarizing political issue. That you have to be totally for climate change evidence or against it. I think our knowledge of what is happening is evolving and growing but certainly, no one can deny that 'something' is happening.
It's just sad to me that we can't just love our planet and try as a group to take care of it so it lasts. I hate that it would be an issue that either side would glom onto and use to garner votes. I wish this nation could rise above and just compromise when needed and do what is right and best.
Instead, people dig in and fight about it. For political points no less.
Independent scientific reports with nothing to gain or lose to provide the information are our best source to understand what is happening. But I guess in this day and age, that is hard to come by. But THAT should drive what happens with climate policy.
The moral high ground is so irritating. I accept that others can have different beliefs and still be moral. I always balk at these politicians that use the 'moral high ground' as if they are so good and if you don't agree, you are heartless, stupid, uncaring or wrong.
And I can't stand politicians that think putting down others is the way to win. I get it. It's as old as time to do that and the ugly practice is common for politicians to glom onto for votes. Sad though.
because it sure doesn't bring people together for a common cause.
A good leader can bring people with different beliefs together to come up with a plan as a team. I'm sure I'll go to my grave wishing for Washington to have good leaders.
