What is the State of the Union ?

What would you say on Wednesday to America about the State of the Country and what the plan ahead should be , I guess the focus would have been on healthcare now I think that may have changed somewhat , economy maybe ...jobs...What would you tell this President if you had his ear ....2nd question here guys , who is Ellie Light '?

Who knows I wouldnt be surprised at any thing, I have heard mostly this last year the word Global used a lot , as in Global economy we shall no doubt find out before long, I hope its what the American people want ...

Speaking of the "New World Order," it's a term that's been bandied around by both parties for quite sometime. I can remember hearing the elder Bush, on numerous occasions, making references to the "New World Order." President Clinton had made similar comments to that effect. So, I'm not quite sure what to make of it.
Is it a catch all phrase for the world, under one governing force?
Or, is it an optimistic vision of the world arriving at universal peace and unity?

By the way in answer to an earlier post about World Order'   I think his main agenda is he is a Progressive..like many others , thats where his agenda lies..he does have ideas of Global Government  , he actauly has mentioned this many time .Hillary Clinton has mentioned the Progressive movement .Woodrow Wilson, Roosevelt, were progressives believed in Government focusing on the Social Issues of the day ..all elitists ,much history written about this . So thats what I believe , and I dont think its paranoia , listen to his speech the other night it was so contradictory as to be ridiculous ..

Thats very witty butterfly..I do get a more positive feeling now that the people are being heard more than the past year now I dont think it is because the admiistration  has changed I think its because we have started to have a voice . I am hoping that they heed us more ...scrap this healthcare reform and start afresh with us watching it on CSpan ..then we will be cooking at least in one area. ,It shows to me that when the people get going  this great and exceptional country makes it clear how much we will take and enough is enough ...

I am certain of one thing he is not working in America's interest at all, I think he is an extremist and we wil no doubt find out as this saga unfolds how extreme he really is , my hope is that it doesnt go too far and any damage done can be undone when he is gone ...I am not certain about a World order it isnt clear yet ,I think everything he has done and is doing is not in our best interest, quite the opposite , I do feel he has surrounded himself knowingly with like minded radicals.the nearest I can put a finger on what he is to look at what is happening in Venezuala .

Let me put this a different way. As much as we argue and disagree on things, I don't see you as someone that actually believes in all this seriously weird conspiracy stuff. Maybe I'm wrong and you do believe in it. But honestly, if you listen to some of what is being said, it sounds like stuff coming from people that also think little green men are in their closet coming after them.
I mean like "One World Order"?, Really? What country is giving up their country to Obama? He wants to pull our military out of the middle east, not start a world war.

What you don't seem to get is that, myself and others here DON'T agree with EVERYTHING Obama wants to do, but when we hear such extremist views, like him wanting a whole world order, he's a Muslim terrorist, he created the deficit and these extreme conspiracy theories, we can't help but think those folks are out of touch with reality and very paranoid. We're just trying to bring people to a normal, sane level of debating, instead of sounding like a bunch of nut jobs off their meds.

If that were true have you ever wondered why...why can you not see that the constitution and all this country has stood for is under threat, why do you purposefully keep you eyes shut, you are intelliegent I am astounded at your total belief in what he is doing is okay , I do not think it worth having a debate 'about it, even if we forgot OBamas role , do you not realise that the administration , the senior advisors all have an agenda to change America far more than any change we hoped for.Perhaps you are also very radical and part of the Progressive movement which incidently has always been thrown out when they tried it before.I dont know, but its not worth the breath if you really see that everything is as good as you keep telling it here ....

The republicans are not helping to get anything done and as they say...."If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem". And like I said before, the republicans are filibustering all bills that come threw, even the ones they've co-sponsored. They are purposely trying to make this President fail, at the expense of  "We the people". This was the republicans intentions,even before Obama moved into the White house. I guess it's the republicans hissy fit for loosing the election. Jeez, talk about soar losers! They need to get a grip and think about the people, instead of their careers.

You do have good points, I was being kind. Let us not forget that it is they that brought us to the brink of another depression, so why would they want us to not fall into one. One reason there is no cooperation by the republicans. All they can think about is besting the other party and this is not conducive to us at all. If they have there way, this country will flounder.

From the chart below, from wikipedia "National Debt by Presidential term", anyone can see the pattern. Starting from Nixon (R) the republicans create more national debt, then the democrats come in and clean it up, then the republicans create more debt. The people that scream about the national debt need to realize, if you back a republican, you will have more national debt. And if the republicans in congress would stop bullying all efforts to correct the nations problems, Obama could reduce the national debt by the end of his term. But before Obama even moved into the White House, the republicans decided to block any bills that came threw, even ones they endorsed.

Teko,  I beg to differ. The republicans accomplished many things during the 8 years in the White House. Wars, Wall Street & Banks failures, Major deficit, tax breaks & loop holes for the extremely wealthy, global hatred for the US and on and on.

See I dont see it as 'Coming over to the other side' as you put it, he says hes freezing spending,well thats only for 3 years anyway ... and he has said so many things that he hasnt done I actually dont believe one word comes out of his mouth..you are right RJ every single thing you have put in your post did come from their own website , , actually the Democrats are being damaged .If we the Republicans take back the house it will be OBama who made it happen ...

If I was Obama, I'd quit. I'd be too embarrassed to get in front of the cameras across the Nation and know they all know I lied continuously to get in office and intended to do nothing. He is still signing Executive Orders noting transparency. I believe that one! The only transparency I've seen is that he is showing what his agenda really is. He has already signed an Executive Order on Health Reform back in April of 09. Already has set up Commissions, etc for that. Coming into our homes to enforce what we eat, or how we run our family. He has signed the one on giving Police Power to INTERPOL taking away all the restrictions that was on the prior order. He has signed big bucks to help run the government in Mexico. He signed to have "non intrusive" methods of checking people that come over the boarder and more bucks for that. He has sent helicopters to Mexico and is using our military for them. He has a big problem sending reinforcements to help our military in Afghanistan when they are out numbered(??)  Guess where I got my information, The White House site. Came straight from the horse's mouth. He is still spending and spending. He promised to cut spending. He even has a write up about how the Seniors won't loose any money with all that is going on especially with Health Reform. Right, the first thing he did is stop the yearly increase for cost of living, about $20 or so a month. Cost of living is up more this past year than normal, so he cuts the little addition.

If he claims jobs are up, he needs to travel around the Country. All that spending has not shown one single bit. It seems to be getting worse. Places here are still closing up. I live in an old neighborhood and there are plenty of foreclosed homes that have been sitting for a long time. There are whole streets in areas that have empty houses due to foreclosures. Instead of another stimulus, he needs to let the people have their tax money back from 09 and have a huge cut in federal taxes. The debts he has put us in, there is no chance in any cuts for us. His freezing spending is $100's of billions of dollars higher than he said to start with and is freezing it at higher numbers.

Since the Democrats have dominated Washington for years, the Republicans have not been able to do much of anything. That is why when the Democrats had some that would not agree on the Health Care mess, they bought votes, so they could pass it.

I think he has done a lot, in the wrong direction, and the largest part of the Country thinks the same thing. When he hits the bottom of the cash, we will have nothing but debt. What he is signing is on the White House site for all to see. I could not believe they have a big debate going on on Health Reform and he has already signed an Order for the main outline of it. More and more committees, costing more and more of taxpayer's money. Everything costs "us" money. I guarantee he does not spend his money the way he spends ours or he would not be rich, he would be in the poor house, with us.

Comparing other presidents and what they did, does not change what Obama has promised and is doing. He had all the answers to everything that was discussed in all debates and on the campaign. No one will satisfy all, but there are things he has done that common sense tells us is bad. He is a good talker, but his actions do not back up what he said. People know better than to spend more than they have that don't have a 6th grade education. Obama spoke out to the Nation last year saying people were charging up their credit cards and then couldn't pay them. They needed to stop over spending. Yet he has put and still is putting us in debt head over heels. It is "do as I say, not as I do".

I think you misunderstand me. Hey, I'm not thrilled with a lot going on in Washington (or should I say not going on) I do think this administration stopped us from going into a full blown depression. They are trying to safely get our men out of Iraq. They are attempting to close Gitmo. Although I don't think all of the stimulus was put to good use. I feel much has helped. I am frustrated as much of the country is. Nothing much in Washington is getting done. As I said in my post above. Heck, 70% of Americans want health care reform and we can't get crap done.
What I don't understand is you have been complaining about the national debt but when they try to address it, you say they are up to tricks.  It just seems, if this administration comes over to your side you quickly head the other way.  Maybe I'm wrong, but don't you think they should focus on the national debt ? Can we agree on that ?  I bet we agree on a lot more than you realize:)

The fact is the Republicans have done over 100 filibusters and acts of procedural obstruction in less than one year. Many of these filibusters have been on bills that eventually passed with a high majority vote from both parties. The republicans have filibustered most bills just to appose the democrats and cause nothing to be accomplished, even the simplest, non-disputed bills. These stupid games that are being played are not in the best interest of "We The People".

I agree with you about Doom and Gloom thats all he has done , everything he has made a mess of its all Doom and Gloom, I cant think of one thing he has achieved that the Amercan people are happy with , tell you what instead of continually having a go at me, how about you tell us what he has done , how about a list of his many accomplishments ......

Let me also say I don't agree with everything this administration does,but there will probably never be one that I agree with 100%.
Margy.....sorry but I truly feel that if you gave Obama a list of what you wanted done, and he did it, you still would find a way to disagree.
This is where I feel our government and politics have gone so wrong. It no longer serves the good of the American people. It's all about stopping the opposing party. Don't vote with them to pass things that will help Americans......just be against the apposing party so you can get elected. It's sad. My opinion.....Obama's biggest mistake is he thought he could bring the country together.

It means he's trying to deal with the national debt you've been complaining about......damned if you do, damned if you don't. Let's just be real honest, you won't be happy with anything this administration does. At least when the last administration did some good things I would acknowledge them :)
