Help with Conception!

Hi Member,

My estimated due date is 29 July 2015 - according to Week 6 & Week 12 ultrasound. Doctor did not go by LMP because I have irregular period ( I missed both Oct and Nov periods ). Which conception date is more likely the father 1 Nov or 9 Nov? Baby boy.

Later ultrasounds do not change the conception date or mean very much for dating, either.  It would appear the guy on October 22 can be ruled out.

Hey Annie, recently at 32 weeks, I measured 35 weeks on Ultrasound ( 3 weeks ahead). Does this change the conception date of 5 Nov? Also is 22 October a possible conception date or its too far? Thnks in advance.

Drops of blood in the underwear could have indicated implantation, it's much rarer than you would expect from reading Internet chat sites, but is said to occasionally happen.  If so it would be from the first sex and not the second, since the blastocyst is not out of its shell yet on day 3 of embryonic life and would not be anywhere near implantation stage if you got pregnant on the 9th.  But the blood could also have been that your cervix got irritated from being bonked during sex on the 9th.  In other words, have nothing to do with implantation.

The Shettles method of planning the gender of one's baby is based on the theory of male sperm living shorter and swimming faster, and female sperm living longer and swimming slower.  But if the theory were perfect, the Shettles method would work a lot better than it does.

Anyway, I would vote for guy 1 but I would not bet the house.  I assume you're going to get a DNA test done?

Annie despite the theory that XY sperms live shorter than the XX, you still vote for 1 Nov? I did notice 2 drops of blood on my underwear on the 12 November evening, with no futher bleeding. This has never happened. When I have my period, it really heavy flows.

I'd rely more on the December ultrasound than the January one, since they don't quite line up and by the eleventh week the margin for error can be several days.  The December one gives an estimated due date of July 28 on the calculator I use, and the January one gives an estimated due date of July 30.  The first one gives an estimated conception date of November 5.  Theoretically, this conflicts with the fact that the baby is a boy, which is why I said the estimate of the first guy as the dad is not perfectly convincing, but it would surprise me less if he is the dad than if the second guy is.

Cheers for the reply Annie. Anyone else what do you think?

Ultrasounds as follows:
2 Dec 2014 - 5week & 6days
12 Jan 2014 - 11weeks & 3 days

November 1, but not by a convincing margin.  You were given the July 29 due date in your sixth week?  Can you look at the record and see exactly when in that week (it will usually say 6 weeks x days)?  And can you double-check the due date given to you on that 6th week report?
