Thank you so much, my drs going off ultrasound and measurements I'm 31 weeks right now!! I've just been so confused on that whole thing until now
Is your doctor going by ultrasound measurements of the fetus, or by your Last Menstrual Period dates? Because if it's just LMP, you most likely ovulated on Nov. 28, making it either guy's baby.
Either way, a 4 day spread before and after ovulation isn't enough to tell who the dad is. On that schedule, if you released two eggs (fraternal twins) one of these guys could be the dad of one, and another could be the dad of the other.
Here's how pregnancy works. About 14 days after a normal period, a new egg (ovum) is released from the ovary at the top of the fallopian tube. The egg starts making its way down the fallopian tube toward the uterus, a trip that takes days. If the woman has had sex 3 or so days prior, there are likely live sperm waiting there for the release of the egg and will fertilize the egg very quickly on release from the ovary. Then the egg travels down the tube and implants in the uterus lining.
If the woman has not had sex 3 or fewer days prior to that, the egg is released and no sperm is waiting to fertilize it. So the egg begins to make it's trek down the tube toward the uterus - and during those days, the woman has sex, sperm race up there to meet the egg that might be a couple days old, on its journey down the tube, and one fertilizes it and it implants in the uterine wall and begins to develop into a baby.
So. Do you see why if you had sex a couple days before, and a couple days after the egg was released (ovulation) it could be either guy? Sperm of each guy would encounter that egg on its journey to the uterus.
I think it's most likely to be the first guy, but only a tiny bit more likely.
Sperm can live inside u for up to 72 hours. DNA test after baby is born is the only way to know
