Paternity and pregnancy timeline..need help

My wife who will be 26 weeks this Saturday, recently informed me that she cheated on me, one and only time on May 10 of this year.  Her last monthly period began April 15, and the due date of the baby is January 20, which was confirmed with the first transvaginal ultrasound on June 6, dating the baby at 7 weeks 3 days.
The first positive pregnancy test result was on May 15, 5 days after her transgression.  Due to the the above info, I feel the baby is biologically mine; however, she told me that she did an at home DNA test, via a finger stick blood draw on herself, and sent in a used water bottle of mine as the paternal sample. She then stated that last week the lab she used called her and said I wasn't the father. I asked her if they sent documentation backing their claim, and she said they charged 400 more for it. Can someone please give me some guidance as to the possibility of the test being wrong or inconclusive, or reassure me that due to the dates of everything involved, that it isn't the other mans? (He is over 60 and I'm 32 if that helps)

There are lots of so-called DNA labs that advertise heavily on the Internet and are in places not well regulated (like Canada), who will gladly take some sucker's $400 and give them a so-called result. There are even some that will test the samples (though there are more that lose them) but they do not count enough DNA markers to give an accurate results. All you have to do is google and you will find lots of complaints against them.

If you have the big bucks and want to be totally sure, test with Ravgen or the DDC. In the DNA/Paternity community we don't recommend any other.

Are you really the husband in this situation or are you the wife who spent the $400 for the crummy lab and now are wondering if their results are wrong? You sound pretty well-informed about timing issues in pregnancy and unusually calm about the situation to be the husband.

Anyway, if you want to be sure, test with a reputable lab, and if you want to be totally sure, test with both possible fathers.

But as RockRose says, nothing about the dates suggests that the transgression produced the child. In fact nothing about the story suggests the transgression produced the child -- it would be highly unusual to the point of almost impossible for an at-home pregnancy test to pick up a pregnancy only 5 days after sex.

Good luck to you both, work on your marriage, that is the important thing.

I'm the husband for sure... I'm informed because I have been to every single appointment.. and stood by her through everything.

I spoke to a gentleman from ddc today, that helped ease my mind a lot. He stated that he had never heard of a water bottle being able to be used for a prenatal DNA test, and that My wife would have had to have given at least 2, 10ml vials of blood, not a finger stick to go on a card like a sugar test.
He also states that the place would have violated HIPPA law by giving her results via a phone call, and that $400.00 for a test just doesn't sound right.
This makes me believe more and more that she found a shady DNA testing company, and that the results are inaccurate.

It's possible he's the dad - although kind of unlikely.

I doubt the story she's telling you about the DNA test,  although I can't understand why she'd lie about that.  I don't think a prenatal DNA test can be done with a water bottle - at any rate, it would be astronomically expensive.

I'd ask to see the incoming phone call on her phone from the lab,  and evidence that she paid thousands of dollars for a DNA test.

So based on the timeline you think he could still be the father, and not me?
She said the test cost 400 dollars.
Wait.  I just redid your math.

She got pregnant around April 29,  according to both her early ultrasound date and expected fertility date.  When you calculate early pregnancy,  you calculate back to the date of the last monthly period first day,  which is April 15.  Her recollection of that,  and the ultrasound also backs that up.  (I know it's confusing.  A mom gets two "free" weeks at the beginning of her pregnancy - so a mom who is diagnosed 7 weeks 3 days pregnant conceived about 5 weeks 3 days ago.

It doesn't seem likely - at all - that the other guy is the father.  And I repeat it seems extremely unlikely she's dna tested herself.
You have made me feel ALOT better... I just don't understand why she'd say she took a DNA test and didn't. I kind of feel like she found some fly by night cheap place that took her money and just gave her a result. I didn't think it was possible for her to pop positive for a pregnancy test 5 days after intercourse anyway, due to the implantation and fertilization times.
I've literally driven myself nuts since Monday over this and just want some sort of peace of mine, because even though she did me horribly wrong, I still love her and she has apologized profusely and been hysterical over it.

So, the chances of him being the father and the 7 week ultrasound being 10 days early, showing a heartbeat of 156 are likely impossible?
You can also confirm this through "reverse pregnancy calculator".  You put in her due date,  and it gives you the likely conception date.  Early ultrasounds are very accurate - it's unlikely this one was 10 days off.
I didn't even give a cheek swab. She said she sent in a used water bottle of mine. She does swear it was the only time this happened, and begged me to fix our marriage; it just seems fishy to me that it'd only be 400 dollars, and that they could do it via an at home blood draw; and that they don't provide documentation, but a phone call?
Sorry to keep leaving comments.  I think your idea is interesting - that this was a fake lab,  taking her money and not actually performing a DNA test,  and then calling her with the bogus answer.
I don't know exactly whether "impossible" is the answer,  but very highly unlikely that the US measurement would be that far off.  What's more telling - to me - is the reality that it seems she's lying about the paternity test.  I did some googling around to confirm my information,  and I can find prenatal paternity testing costing around 2 thousand dollars,  and requiring the alleged father's blood,  not cheek swab.  I wish you the best - it's puzzling what's going on here.
Leave all the comments you want. All the things you have said have really put me a lot more at ease, because they are what I have thought all along. Thank you for that:

Have her test with Ravgen or DDC. It is more money but the DNA from a finger prick won’t be accurate.
