Please help me! Paternity Issue!
Hello, how are you?

Could you please help me with a paternity issue? Thank you so much in in advance!

I slept with with this girl on the 5th of June. She made 2 transvaginal ultrasounds (with 2 different doctors) on the 19th and 22nd of June and discovered that she was pregnant.

Here's the data:

Gestational sac size: 10 mms
Embryo: 2 mms
Heart beat seen (not on the 19th but on the on 22nd)

On the 4/8, she made an ecography that confirmed the previous data (said that the gestational age is 12 weeks and +/- 4 days).

She said that she slept with her ex-boyfriend some weeks before. The transvaginal ultrasound tell us that the LMP was on the 10/05 and the conception dates are between 23 and 28 of June.

My questions are:

Is it medically possible to see see a 10mms gestational sac and a 2mms embryo on the 22nd of June (that means the conception date is on the 5th) - I also ask you this because of HcG levels. I read that 2 weeks after conception wouldn't be possible to see a gestational sac on an ultrasound.

Here's 2 links regarding LMP and due date (14/2/2018) that don't match my conception date.

How accurate is the information on the following links?

http://www.calculator.net/pregnancy-calculator.html?today=02%2F14%2F2018&printit=0&x=61&y=2

It says that the conception date should be "From: 05/20/2017 To: 05/25/2017".

Could 2 transvaginal sounds and 1 ecography be more or less 11 days wrong by date?

Could be gestational sac and embryo develop so fast? I mean, is it mine or from her ex? What are the odds of each one?

According to all medical information that I could find, the dates, embryo size, gestational sac, hcg levels don't match with my conception dates. But I can't find a relief... Please help me...

Thank you so much.

Take care.

It sounds like she was already pregnant when she slept with you. It is very, very unlikely to be your baby if you had sex on June 5 and she saw an embryo on an ultrasound on the 19th. If you cannot believe this, ask for a prenatal DNA test, using either the DDC or Ravgen. Those tests are costly but if  you cannot get relief from your worries, it might be worth it. If not, wait until the baby is born and do a DNA test (which at that point is about a tenth as expensive.)

Hi Annie! Thank you so much for your answer! I found some relief on your words but there is something that i would like to clear.

Actually, the embryo was seen on the 2nd transvaginal, on the 22nd of June and not on the 19th.

Could you please tell me how big of a difference 3 days can make, in my case?

Thanks again!

Not a big enough difference. It takes a bit longer than that for an embryo to be visible on an ultrasound. It would appear she slept with someone else a couple of weeks before you, not weeks and weeks before you.

Most information about when the heart begins to beat after conception says 21 days after conception. This means the time margins are not wide, but they are still pretty suggestive that she was already pregnant and the baby is not from the sex with you.

The only question your story raises for me is that you say, "She said she slept with her ex-boyfriend some weeks before." 'Some weeks before' what, the ultrasound? In that case, it makes sense.

But if she meant some weeks before she slept with you (and then she didn't have sex with anyone for many weeks until she had sex with you), that is more puzzling. It would appear she got pregnant no earlier than a week or two before having sex with you.

If she is insistent that she did not have sex with anyone in late May, (especially if she would have reason to prefer you are the dad and not anyone else), it might be well worth doing a prenatal DNA test to get the question definitely answered, rather than have to stress over it for nine months. If you do a prenatal test, I recommend Ravgen or the DDC, and tests with both men are always best because one man's positive result can be used to corroborate the other man's negative result.

She told me that she slept with her ex more or less in the middle of May (she's not certain of  the exact day). So, apart from it, if the sperm can live up to 5 days on a woman's body, it seems that the conception dates match with her ex
She doesn't want to have a prenatal test by any means and she is not pressuring me or anything like that.

But Annie, I mean, I want to take full responsability for my actions, do you know what I mean? I really need to know if I am or if I'm not the child's father. That's why I can't find a relief before the baby's due...

Just be sure that before she refuses a prenatal test, she understands clearly that the ones from the DDC or Ravgen are merely done by a blood test from her arm, and a mouth swab from you (and a mouth swab from the other man if she will let that happen). The tests are not invasive and do not affect the baby.

But the cost is very high, about ten times what it costs after the baby comes, so don't suggest it to her if you can't also pay for it.

I'd say the dates favor her ex-boyfriend and not you, but since they worry you and you are complaining you do not have relief, you would be better off getting the test if you can afford it, and she should be willing to do it in order to know sooner or later for sure that you aren't the dad.

Thank you so much for all your help Annie!

Unfortunately I was checking on the prices for Ravgen and I don't have the finantial possibilities to pay the test.

Although, I got way more relieved after talking to you so I truly appreciate your attention and words.

Take care!

In any case, do a DNA test after the baby comes. It is only a tenth as costly when it is done post-natally.
