Talk to your doctor and tell him or her the situation and all your boyfriend's dates from early September on, though your period and the ultrasound make it pretty clear that there is not a lot of room for mistake in the around-September-24 date.  But you of course want to be totally sure of what is going on.  I'm sorry, and wish you good luck.

You would not have been pregnant before your period if the ultrasound points to around September 24.  To be pregnant before your period you would have to have conceived around September 2, because your period was on the 16th and one ovulates two weeks before the period.  The medical count of pregnancy from an ultrasound of a baby conceived around September 2 would use August 19 as a starting date (because they count from the first day of the last period before conception).  If your doctor was looking at your ultrasound and saw an embryo the right size to have been conceived around September 2, he or she would have told you that you were 9 weeks pregnant.  But your doc didn't tell you 9 weeks or anything close to that.

Are you saying you didn't have sex with your boyfriend ever at all until October 3rd, or are you just saying you didn't have sex with your boyfriend between September 16 and October 3?

Hi, Kay, talk to your doctor, especially since this seems to be bad news.  Go over all the records and be sure this interpretation (that I just gave you) is correct.  Be sure you tell your doc the exact dates when you had sex with your boyfriend, so he or she can rule him out for sure or tell you if there is any hope.

And was it a reliable ultrasound place, not just a walk-in emergency center?

What the ultrasound is saying is that the embryo is consistent with the average embryo at 5 weeks 5 days gestational age, which means 3 weeks 5 days since conception.  This number of weeks being two apart  is because the medical way to count "weeks pregnant" begins at the calculated first day of last period before getting pregnant, and the ultrasound uses this medical way of counting.

So yesterday, the 20th, you would have been 3 weeks 5 days since conception according to the ultrasound, which points to September 24.  Unless you had sex with your boyfriend around then or before then (even as far back as the 19th would qualify), things point to your ex.

Did they tell you that 5 weeks 5 days number by doing an ultrasound at the hospital?  Please answer this specific question, it is important.

Hi, Kay, how regular are your menstrual cycles (month to month are they exactly the same distance apart in days?) and how long is an average cycle?  Your two guys split the difference if you had average 28-day cycles, but you can't tell by the calendar if your cycles are long or irregular.  Have you had an ultrasound yet?  That would be the best way to tell.
