Well, I would hope for the best in your case also.  If you are fortunate enough that June 9 (or later) was really your ovulation date, your husband has the edge.  I've heard of sperm living a long time in the woman's reproductive tract, but the number usually kicked around is 5 days or maybe 6.  And the size thing is promising, odd as it seems to be judging something like this in such an off-the-wall way.  And of course your husband had a lot more tries.  If you don't intend to tell him there is a chance of someone else, you are going to have to figure out a way to know for sure.  The best way is a DNA test once the baby is born.  A secondary way that is not perfect is to look at a baby picture of the new baby against a baby picture of your husband taken at around the same age.  (Compare photographs side by side -- you can't compare a photo to a wiggly baby and tell anything.)  If they look absolutely, totally identical, that might be enough.  But if they do not, it's DNA test time.  You do ultimately really need to know.

OK, if your cycles are irregular, then you can forget the method of counting 14 days from the first day of your last period, because someone with irregular cycles can ovulate any time.  Let's just talk from the first ultrasound, to get past the confusion of the discrepancy with the second ultrasound.  Always we need to keep in mind that ultrasonographers date pregnancies by when (they presume) your first day of your last period was, not by a guessed-at conception date.

Unfortunately, a 15-week ultrasound is going to give you a date less reliable than, say, a 7-week ultrasound.  This is because when embryos begin, they are the same size as lots and lots of other embryos, for a few weeks.  But by the time they have been developing for a trimester, there are differences in sizes of babies.  (That is why I asked if you or either partner was particularly small in stature, the slippage of three days between your 15-week and 20-week ultrasounds suggests the baby is not unusually big for his age.)

Given that and the rate of change between the 20-week number and the 15-week number, I'd guess that the estimated due date given to you at 15 weeks was plus or minus maybe 5 or 6 days.  If your due date is March 2, your presumed conception date is June 9.  This ranges you back to June 3rd or as far ahead as June 14.

Unfortunately, this means neither May 30 nor June 2 is out of range, if the sex was unprotected, due to how long sperm can live in your reproductive system.  I'm sorry, but this one is really too close to call (just the fact they were three days apart mades it almost impossible, but I was hoping it would be a lot earlier or a lot later, to lean toward one person or another).  Did you sleep with your husband after June 2?

In any case, you will need to do DNA testing, either with your ex or your husband, once the baby is born.

(The reason I asked, is in the U.S. it's always done month/day/year, and a date of 02/03 will always be read by a person from here as February 3.)

Okay, you have a puzzling series of slightly contradictory information, then.  If your due date given to you two times based on your ultrasounds is March 2, the first day of your last period being May 16 is kind of early.  By all the calculators, it would be around May 26 or May 27.  Any reason that May 16 would be wrong?  Has the doctor or midwife ever commented on that discrepancy?

Also, your September ultrasound and your October ultrasound don't count out the same, they are about three days off each other, so it is a little puzzling why the due date didn't get changed.

The reason it matters is that given a due date of March 2, your ovulation would be around June 9 on a calculator.  But not everything is lining up for that.  Are your cycles regular?  The assumed ovulation date on a calculator is based on an average cycle length of 28 days.  Is that your average?

Also, just by any chance, are you or either man unusually small in stature?  I'm puzzled by the moving targets on the baby's size.

Shamila, just so I am sure, when you use all numbers for a date, you mean day/month/year, correct?  (I.e., 02/03/2013 would be March 2, 2013, not February 3, 2013?)

If the midwife just said it, it is not going to be as accurate as if she did an ultrasound.  She would have probably given you an estimate based on what you told her of the first day of your last period.

Do you have any of the following numbers:

-  First day of your last period
-  Normal length of your menstrual month from day 1 of bleeding to day 1 of the next month's bleeding
-  Date of any ultrasound that you have had in this pregnancy
-  How far along they said the pregnancy was based on that ultrasound
-  Due date based on an ultrasound

If you have some of those numbers or all of them, we might be able to figure out whether there is any risk the baby is the wrong guy's.  Without them, it's anyone's guess.  What did the midwife base her 27th of May estimate on?

Hi, Shamila, how did you get the conception date, and at what point in your pregnancy?  Was it by early ultrasound?
