My first Dr. Appointment... EEEEEKK!

ok my first Dr.'s Appt is Tuesday and I know this sounds silly, but I'm deathly afraid of needles and blood work!  Does anyone have any advice on how to keep myself calm during this whole process?  I know having my baby in 8 months should do the trick, but for right now its not cutting it.  Please give me some ideas!  I'm freaking out here.

Are they doing blood work for sure? My doctor said that they are just going to talk to me about what to do for the months ahead. But just relax and take deep breaths if they decide to draw blood! I don't really like needles either, but I like to watch the nurse draw blood rather than be surprised by the *****. Just think of it as a little pinch...which is definetly easier than childbrith! lol goodluck!!!

My first appoinment is tuesday too - are they doing and ultra sound?  They are not doing one for me - just having the chat like sweetkisses said about waht to expect in the months to come.  Good luck - I already had blood work done - so I dont think they will do it again - have you had any done yet?  Don't worry it is just a slight pinch and it will go away.!

I'm a nurse and can't stand getting bloodwork done or IV sites inserted!  I just look the other way.......They'll say "Little pick", you feel it for a second and then you feel nothing....just DON'T LOOK until they say they are done..That's the only way I can deal.....I have no problem poking other people but when it's me, it's another story!  LOL!

Yeah your first appt they usually do blood work to check all your hormone levels.  And I agree...look away til they say they are done.  :-)
