Spontaneous Increase in HCG

Spontaneous Increase in HCG

I am 23 years old and I am pregnant with my second child. I m/c Sept 24 of 07 and my husband and I are so upset about our test results for the OB office but hopeful about the results from the ER:
On March 31, at 5 weeks 1 day my HCG was only 280 and my Progesterone was only 8 and the ultrasound showed nothing.  The doctor subscribed progesterone supplements and since then as of April 5, 5 weeks 6 days, my HCG had gone up to 2950 and my Progesterone tests have not come back yet, is that normal.  I only got these more recent test results back after having cramps and headaches going to the ER.  Its my understanding that HCG levels normally double every other day if, this is true, 2950 is a little high compared to my last test but in the normal range.  What does all of this mean? I can't take another m/c so soon and I want to be hopeful but I am afraid to get my hopes up too high.  Also, my husband jokes about the possibility of twins because my hcg jumped like that, is that a possibility?

I think thats a great number! If your HCG was at 280 on the 31st, the 5th was 5 days from that so if it kept doubling and than add the 5th a normal HCG would be at around 1700...but some women more than double their numbers sometimes, especially in early Pregnancy. So I think its a great number! I think it just means that your baby is growing and your HCG rises very quickly. I think the number would be a lot larger if you were having twins. Yours sound good to me!
Congrats!
