Can drinking young specificall cause this condition

I've had balance problems and developed tremors. I am A sober Alcoholic with 30yrs of sobriety and I am By-polar since early 30's, when it pronoused itself after the birth of my second child, I went to the surgeon to check if I had a tumore in my brain. I never had a MRI before and am 54. The nerosurgeon told me I had minimal biofrontal lobe atrophy & the only cause was my drinking over 30 years ago.I drank from 13 till 24. She told me this was the cause. That there wasn't anything I could do about it but think more, board games, join book club. That it wasn't degenerative but stationary. I left confused? Should I get a second opinion? Is there more to it?
