Degenerative Spine

i have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and peripheral neuropathy. MRI's of  spine show various levels of degeneration with the cervical, thoratic and sacral areas being the worst. i do not have cervical stenosis, but i am not sure of lower down. The neuropathy is in my lower legs (peroneal nerve) and hands (ulnar nerve).  The EMG states fibrillations, slow CMAP and large MUPs. i have burning, tingling, atrophy, numbness, fasciculations and painful cramps pretty much all over with exercise fatigue.
If i am on my feet for awhile i start to limp. I am seeing a neurologist and chiropractor and my GP.  My neurolgist wanted me to have Physical Therapy but, my insurance denied it.  I would like to have full function and strength of my back and legs and not to cramp or twitch anymore.
Other than doctor visits and chiropractor visits, what things can i do to heal my nerve damage and relieve my pain?
Here is what i am trying so far:
orthopedic inserts in good shoes
self massage
proper nutrition
yoga
vitamins (B,E, Q10, Cal-mag, multi)
hot and cold packs
neck brace
cervical pillow


i have also looked at and am practicing sports rehabilitation websites for stretches and strengthening exercises...

I am experiencing all your systoms, and have yet to see a neurologist..  I use to very active  at 30's but have now found that activity aggravate my back..legs,,,neck to a point of not being able to walk without hunching or limping in pain, physiotherapy for I has being a waste of time.for they see you for approx.1-2hours and not what you'd experience of working 8 hours..I haven't been able to work for the last 4months and got injured 6 months ago at my job....ddd in l5-s1...I'm tired of docs disbeleilf of my symptoms, and have now found out i'm been let go from my job..I guess i consider this a wake up.....I beleive the have nerv blocks injections, but your playing with your spine.???.
