having lumbar fusion, now widespread muscle pain.

having lumbar fusion, now widespread muscle pain.

i have had chronic back pain for over 10 years.  i am 30 years old.  i have finally decided on a fusion of L4-5 L5-S1.  i have done everything by the book and have been the perfect patient...so says my doctors.  at the beginning of july, i had started to have joint pain, mostly in the morning, but still felt throughout the day.  gradually i now have severe joint pain and widespread muscle pain all day.  i take 6 percoset, 1 1/2 soma, lexapro and ibubrofen everyday.  the back pain with med's is tolerable but this muscle and joint pain is unbearable.  everyone claims it is my back, but i have been with my back pain for so long and never had any pains like this.  everything about me says something is wrong.  so i did lab work.  no thyroid or rhymatoid arthritis.  i am lookinf for anyone that could have possibly had the same symptoms.  it feels like i did the roughest workout everyday, yet i cannot exercise yet.  every single muscle hurts from my neck to my toes.  loosing hope.  due for fusion in september and want to know what is wrong with my body first...any help is appreciated.  thanks.

Sounds like you have some of the following......spinal stenosis, degenerative spine disease, spondylosis or siactic nerve pain. Before you have this fusion,  PLEASE check out the micro endoscopy spinal surgery procedure.  I have spinal stenosis, and siatica nerve and degenerative **** disease.  I just had a new MRI taken and will present this to the Dr who does this procedure. There aren't to many Dr's who are qualified to do this, so your have to check around.  Duke University, Dr Rob Isaac  is one, Dr Marion Millan of Foothills Pain is another,  he is in Seneca SC and some in L.A  They are board certified.  It takes approx 90 minutes and you go home after it's done.  All you have is a band aid to cover the tiny hole.   Check this out..foothillspain.com        and get an idea.  It has a video of the procedure..  Be careful on taking ibubrofen, as prolonged usage can cause kidney problems., like me.  So I now only take Tylenol.  Good luck and check this out.  It could save you from having a spinal fusion.   Also there are lumbar epidural injections and facet injections.  I had 3 and half worked.
