symptoms of dementia
my husband is not remembering things anymore....i will tell him to go into another room to do something and i go in there and he is standing there forgetting what i told him....all he does all day is sleep and he does not eat unless i fix it and hand it to him....he definitely does not remember one day from another and if i tell him we are doing something the next day, he will not remember it....is this the early signs of dementia....

  Yes that sounds as if it could be the early signs of dementia but only a physician could provide a specific diagnosis. Also they have to determine the cause. The best thing to do is to obtain a referal to a neurologist. Also be able to note down when these symptoms started, any family history of any specific medical conditions, any other medical conditions that he has or had and any medications he has taken or is taking. Dementia now has specific treatments that can be of help for it but they have to see what might be the potential cause to see what the next step is.
   Also it would be worthwhile to see what accomodations might be of help to him for his immediate physical safety and also so that he can better cope with what is occuring. Any treating physician can be of help with the application process.  Sometimes a home attendant can be of help depending.
