PAIN AFTER 2 ROOT CANALS AND CROWNS

by ally'smommy, Mar 26, 2007 12:00AM
LAST YEAR AT THIS SAME TIME I HAD A ROOT CANAL AND CROWN ON A TOOTH THAT ONLY ACHED A LITTLE.  AFTER THIS THE PAIN GOT WORSE AND THE GUMS AROUND THAT TOOTH INFLAMED.  MY DENT. DONE XRAYS AND SHOWED ME THAT THE TOOTH DIRECTLY INFRONT OF THE TREATED TOOTH HAD ABCESSED AND WAS CAUSING THE PAIN.  WELL, DUE TO INSUANCE, I HAD TO WAIT TILL A FEW WEEKS AGO TO GET THE ROOTCANAL AND CROWN ON THIS NEW TOOTH.  AT FIRST, THE TOOTH FELT MUCH BETTER AND THEY SHOWED ME THE XRAYS- INFECTION ALL GONE, BUT NOW I HAVE SENSITIVITY TO HOT AND COLD AND IT ACHES IF I CHEW ON IT.  I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE POINT FOR A ROOTCANAL, REMOVING THE PULP SO IT CAN'T POSSIBLE HURT ANY MORE.  HAVE I SPENT 2,000 BUCKS ON TEETH THAT WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED?  WHAT COULD POSSIBLE BE THE REASON FOR THIS? WILL THEY CHARGE ME TO FIX THESE IF THEY KEEP HURTING?

When the nerve is dead you are dealing with an infection. It is possible that infection has not cleared up and that may be the reason for the pain when you bite. You need to see your dentist or an endodontist.I do not know their policy for retreatment if in fact that is what has to be done.

these are questions tht cannot be answered without examining you, seeing films etc. I'd sggest that if you are dismayed or confused you get another opinion.

Last feb. i cracked my tooth on an jolly rancher, the summer I started having unexplained head and earaches that were very severe everyday for 2wks, I had ct scans done and everything. nothing was ever found i tried every type of meds nothing helped.  on the 4th of july I ate some of my moms hot peach cobbler, the pain then went from my tooth, ear and head only on the side of the cracked tooth, I put ambesole on it and it went right away. Feb 2007 i wnt to the dentist because I still new the tooth needed to b fixed, he said either i can pull it or get a root canal done, stupid me choose the rc, THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER HAVING THE RC DONE, THE HEADACHE CAME BACK!! i went back to the dr who performed it and he said nothing was wrong from looking at the exray all the roots had been taken out, weeks later still having chronic head and ear pain so I told my reg dentist and told him to just pull the damn tooth because i was tired of going through this just to save one tooth, he pulled it and i am still having headaches until this day, its been three months already and I just dont kno what to do!! I cant seem to find a dr that can find out whats wrong with me!!
