3 year old with possible gum infection

I took my 3 year granddaughter to the dentist after she started to complain about things being too hard to eat and running a high fever (103). I noticed what appeared to be her gums swollen in the front bottom. Her dentist said she was still teething and we needed to brush her teeth instead of letting her. She gave my granddaughter magic mouth wash to numb the area.

That was a Wednesday. By Friday she would not eat anything and screamed if we tried to use the mouth wash on a cotton swab. We took her to the doctor that day. They were not sure and put her on Amoxil.  It is now Sunday she is still screaming when we go near her tooth/gums and is bleeding at the touch of the cotton swab

Her mother and I are worried and do not know what to do next. She has a follow up with the dentist on Wednesday this week.  What should we do?  Should the Amoxil be working if it is an infection?  If so when will it help her?

Your dentist may need to try to clean her teeth for her or refer to a pediatric dentist for further evaluation.

Right now she can not stand to have her teeth brushed. We are going back to the dentist today.

Are you able to provide proper hygiene care at home?  If the symptoms are still persisting after the antibiotics, I would recommend seeing another dentist.

There are teeth there. The ones there have been there awhile. She even has her two year molars. She is still having trouble eating and says it hurts. I can not get her to eat her yogurt even. Her gums around the front bottom teeth look red and swollen. They are the ones that bleed when I try to rub the magic mouth wash on with a cotton swab.

The amoxicillin should start to work after 2-3 days.  Judging by the timeline, it should be about now.  Any improvement at all?

Are the teeth there or are they starting to erupt?  I would imagine her teeth erupted around 8 months old so teething at this age (bottom front teeth) seems really odd to me.
