6 Days after multiple extractions and there's a gaping hole.

6 days ago I had my lower left molars removed, for teeth total. I had a massive tooth infection that swelled my face really substantially. Antibiotics didn't even take the swelling down. I received nerve damage from the infection causing paresthesia in my chin and lower lip. The extraction was done after a month of antibiotics and went off without a hitch. I had minimal pain and swelling from the procedure and seem to be healing well except for a couple of things. First, the wisdom tooth socket is gaping still. I'm really concerned about infection. Also, I still have swelling in the area where the infection swelling was. It hasn't gotten worse, but it's not really getting better either. I have been on a second round of Augmentin 875mg and will finish it tomorrow morning. I'm concerned that the continued swelling indicates that the infection is still present and that once I finish thev antibiotics that the infection will get  worse again. This infection was a terrifying experience for me. Never had an infection that took so long to get rid of. Is there any cause for concern or am I just worrying too much?

Going back to your surgeon to have a post-op exam is advised.

I should also add that I would ask the oral surgeon about these things but he seems very nonchalant about my concerns and feel he doesn't take me seriously.
