Abcessed tooth after heart surgery...Dangerous?

My husband had heart surgery one year ago to fix a coronary artery anomaly. He now has an abcessed tooth. Seven years ago he had an abcessed tooth and almost died because he had no insurance and the infection almost reached his brain. I am wondering how much more serious this abcess (abscess) is now that he has undergone heart surgery. We have no dental insurance and don't know how long it will be before we can get the tooth taken care of.

Seeing a dentist to get rid of abscess is advised.
