Adult with baby tooth

by michaelNm, May 14, 2007 12:00AM
I am 22 years old and I have one of my baby tooth .  My adult canine tooth as grown behined this baby tooth.  I now have insurance so I can fix this problem. It's obvious that I will have the baby tooth extracted , but what are my options as far as the adult tooth that had grown behind it?

I would definitely explore the possibility of moving the permanent cuspid into position orthodontically.I would not consider extracting it.

it maay be possible to orthodontically move it ito the corect position. What you really need to do is find a good general dentist to do a complete exam/films and who can give you a treatment plan for your whole mouth (this problem included) and refer you to the proper specialists. you should not be planning your treatment on your own.

My 26 year old son has the exact same thing. Baby tooth is in front of adult tooth. His dentist took xrays and found that the two teeth are fused together. Hope that isn't the case with you. The dr told my son that the baby tooth can't be removed without removing big tooth. My son opted to leave it be.
Good luck to you,
