After Root Canal Pain

by onelmichele, Oct 09, 2008 10:16PM
I had root canals on #31 and #32  two days ago.  One was a re-canal and the other was a root canal through a crown.  There was a nasty smell on one of the teeth (I could smell it when the endodontist was working!).  Anyway,  now, two days later I am in pretty excruciating pain.  I finally called and they gave me Rx for Tylenol #3 but the 1 tab per six hours is not even touching the pain...is this normal and is it ok to take more Tylenol #3?  It throbs and hurts when I am not moving my mouth at all.  It really hurts to try to tap my top and bottom teeth together.  Needless to say I am eating soup and mashed potatoes...

If tylenol# 3 is not alleviating the pain, switching to other pain killer is advised. Seeing your endodontist to ask  if antibiotics is needed.
