Allergic to material

Is it possible that the material used in the root canal would cause an allergy, I have heard that a Numing agent can and also Latex gloves, since I had Dental w ork done in May I have had severe Hives , I was also given strong painkillers and Penicillin , the treatment was not completed due to me having this Allery and not being able to say what has caused it. I am wondering if I shoild have the Root canal removed.

So you have had hives since May of this year?  Or did you break out in hives the day of the procedure?

There is a possibility of an allergic reaction to the materials used in dentistry.  Generally with latex gloves though, it is a contact dermatitis in which you get rashes on the skin.  You might have had an allergic reaction to the penicillin but the hives should not last several months.  An allergic reaction to anesthetic is also possible.  You would need to discuss the materials used in the root canal procedure as the materials can vary.  If the procedure was not finished, there probably isn't anything in your canal but you can ask your dentist if there is anything left in there.  Sometimes doctor will place calcium hydroxide to prevent bacterial growth in the canals.
