Anxiety/Panic attacks caused by 2nd exposure to nitrous oxide

by arm1188, Sep 17, 2009 03:15PM
I had my wisdom teeth (as well as an impacted tooth) pulled in january and was under nitrous oxide and had no problems with the procedure.  A week and a half ago, I had an implant put in (where the impacted tooth was extracted) and used the nitrous oxide again.  The next day, I immediately began to have severe anxiety and panic attacks.  Could this be related?  Its little documented but my health provider says it does happen.  Problem is, I've been having problems finding information about this and need some direction, what can I do when the dentists and psychiatrists do not see how this happened?  Is there any more information anyone could provide for me?

The mechanism of nitrous oxide isn't very well understood.  I suppose its possible as a side effect of the nitrous oxide but I would imagine that it would have occurred during the use of the nitrous oxide and not after.

So you've gone to a psychiatrist to see why you had an anxiety attack?  Are there any other possible reasons for the anxiety?
