Apicoectomy - Again on the next tooth

Less than a year after an apicoectomy  -- I am now infected above the next tooth.  I asked for an antibiotic -- he gave me penicillin VK 500MG for 5 days and it didn't help.  What would be the BEST antibiotic to kill the infection because as it appears it will continue to travel to the next area & so on, etc..  I have permanent caps in the area and he implied I may have to go for implants which I could NEVER afford as I am on a very tight fixed income.  The previous procedure was done at a discount rate of $1000 -  I was told it was normally $1500.  Hopefully you can help resolve this problem with your answer.

Antibiotic can not eliminate the source of infection. Redo peri apical surgery is not a wise decision. If apicoectomy works, it should work the first time, unless the surgeon did not do a good job. However, seeing another endodontist for second opinion is advised.

My endodontist wants to do another apical surgery but did indicate that I may require more than one more procedure, etc., etc.  I don't understand why this can't be handled via antibiotics.  Are you a professional and if so any other alternatives to my problem?

If the abscess comes from another tooth and the canal was optimally obturated, another apical surgery may solve your problem. Seeing an endodontist is advised.
