Bite off or root canal needed

I had a crown placed on a back molar six days ago. I had the temporary crown for two weeks. Part of the tooth seemed to not be covered by the temp crown because when brushing there was one place at the back of the tooth which was painful when brushing. At the end of the second week I began having slight pain radiating to the jaw and ear. The dentist proceeded to placement of the permanent crown. When the cement was applied it was extremely sensitive even though my gums had been numbed. The first 24 hours everything felt 100% better but then the jaw/ear pain started up again-mainly in the evening. There is no cold sensitivity when brushing however when eating warm to hot foods on that side pain radiates to jaw/ear. My bite feels slightly off. Could that be causing the pain or does it sound like I need to seek the opinion of endodontist?

sensitivity to hot stimulus suggests pulpal necrosis. In contrast, sensitivity to cold stimulus suggests pulpitis.Seeing an endodontist to evaluate pulp status is avised.
