Block Bone Grafts Natural vs. Synthetic

by texaswavelady, Jun 30, 2009 06:58PM
I had a block bone graft (bone taken from my chin)in December 2008. The area where the graft was placed (for #6 and #7) has shrunk. The bone in the area is thin according to a CT scan done last week. Would a synthetic bone graft have been a better choice? Should I have another bone graft? My goal is to have 2 implants.

Ridge augmentation can be achieved with or without bone graft, whether natural or synthetic bone. In addition, upper anterior facial bone can be expanded by osteotome during implant placement procedure. Seeing an experienced oral surgeon is advised.
