Bony ridge of socket exposed after wisdom teeth extraction

I'm 48 years old and just I had my wisdom teeth removed a little over 2 weeks ago As the healing process has been taking place, I have noticed that a somewhat sharp edge of bone around the socket where my lower right wisdom tooth was has become exposed. It is on the inside part of the mouth next to my tongue. While only slightly painful, it is quite annoying as I can feel it scrape against my tongue particularly when talking. I went back to the oral surgeon who examined it and said that normally it will heal over in time and it was best to leave it alone unless it was actually cutting into my tongue, which it is not. My questions are: 1. Will it in fact heal over? 2. If so, how long? 3. If it needs to be corrected, what is involved? Does it require more oral surgery?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dear MikeO, I think that if the bony protuberance is bothering you when you speak that it should be taken care of. This requires a slight incision and some smoothing of the bone.
