Broken post and fractured maxilla?

Broken post and fractured maxilla?

I had a root canal and crown about 7 yrs ago. A few months ago I was eating when I heard this horrific bone cracking sound and felt my tooth go sideways. There was a horrible pain that made me feel like I was going to pass out. The tooth moves side to side and up and down , not just a little but so much I worry it is going to fall out. When I move the tooth I can feel the post moving against my gums at the place your gumline and cheek meet, as though the post broke through the bone. Is that possible? I have terrible pain and mild swelling at the top of the gums above the tooth along with pain next to my nostril, up through my eye and along the jaw running up in front of my ear. I have no insurance due to being fired for taking a week off when my baby sister died, so I am wondering if I am ok to let this go as long as I can tolerate the pain, or if it will lead to complications if left untreated. Thankyou.

You're probably looking at removing the tooth.  If its fractures below the gumline, its not going to heal on its own.  The area will be prone to another infection which can result in more complications.  It would be best to address it now instead of later.
