Broken tooth

i just broke a big corner of a back tooth off that goes below the gum line (may be a tooth with a root canal), so far no pain but I have managed to push it back in place.  I am able to drink cold tea without pain.  If I let the piece of tooth come out, will there probably not be pain since cold drinks do not cause pain.  Afraid to sleep with it in but also afraid to let it come out.  Will see dentist first thing in the am.

take it out. your dentist will not be able to put the broken part back and you dont want to choke on it in your sleep. just avoid chewing on it and see the dentist first thing.
